Re: Missing kayaker - Crystal Beach

It is not a missing KAyaker, it is a loose kayak. Typical news reporting going to the extreme before there is even a missing persons report. A few months ago, there was another report from the USCG saying that the problem is people leaving their kayak where it can get washed out from shore then they...

Re: RTIC coolers

The coolers seem to be the same quality but the tumblers are not as heavy duty.

The company is owned by the brothers who started Yeti .

And you can buy them at Buckees for the same price as online.

Re: I wish I'd have taken some pictures at San Luis Pass....

5 X 5 What kind of solution for improvement of your beaches do you have in mind? Like I said, start by charging out of staters a huge fee since they seem to be willing to pay it. Next, prevent anyone who moves to our great state from proposing any rules and regulations that are similar to the place...

Re: I wish I'd have taken some pictures at San Luis Pass....

I have a proposed solution. There needs to be a fee for an access sticker to any public beach/property. That will keep most of the trashy people off the property and then the money from the fees can be used to maintain the area. The trashy minority ruin it for the clean majority. You ought to see t...

Re: I wish I'd have taken some pictures at San Luis Pass....

Open and free access..............you can see what you are getting. If you think it will get better without some kind of action then you are just fooling yourself. I would gladly pay a yearly permit fee to access the beach and see it kept clean and free or litter and trash (the kind that drives the...

Re: I wish I'd have taken some pictures at San Luis Pass....

I just started fishing the salt after purchasing a yak in late in 2014. I was "stunned" at all the trash left behind on the beach and the launches at Drum Bay. I lived in the Dallas area for 14 years before moving to the Houston area in 2001, the Dallas area is light years cleaner than th...

Re: Beware - Thieves Have a New Device

That may be ok for some folks but I've worked to hard for the things I have to let the fear of thieves dictate how I live. Just try and be aware of your surroundings and use common sense. We've all seen enough movies to know what criminals are capable of! That is why I use my dad's old cheby . I wo...

Re: big cooler or clean upon arrival

I have a 70 quart cooler and it only takes up one side of my back seat. And while I prefer to clean my fish at a cleaning table, I won't do it if the fish haven't been on ice for a couple of hours - makes cleaning and filleting so much easier and cleaner if they are cold & stiff. But I will oft...

Re: Beware - Thieves Have a New Device

this happens everywhere. My F250 had its lock punched right in front of Collina's in the Heights 10 feet from people eating a few years ago. My Dodge 2500 was broken into in front of my house in the Heights on a week night. They tried and failed to punch the lock to they smashed the drivers window a...

you are lucky. You should always go to the hospital for observation. It can manifest itself later causing your heart to stop.

My father in law had to have his heart restarted 3 times after being shocked.

I have the Kokatat Bahia Tour and a Cuda 14 ( old seat design) and it does not interfere. It depends on you though since a 6'3" person will not have the same issues as a 5'5" person. I got to try it out this weekend when I made a stupid mistake and turtled with my waders on. It floated me ...

Re: PETITION - Opposing Lydia Ann Channel Barge Mooring Facility

Thanks for the delete. Increased barge traffic is probably related to the healthy state of the Texas economy. I am not thrilled with our increase in coastal population numbers but it beats the heck out of poverty. The real long term solution is to repeal the Jones Act. It would drastically reduce t...

You would probably do better just telling the truth and not posting it on a Obama / Sores site which is what change.org is. I will not give my info to anything associated with either of them. And get off the Koch brothers kick, it is getting old. Nevermind  Share your insite, I would love to h...

Re: need input on a trailer

thanks for the link.

I just picked up a Karavan galvanized watercraft trailer and I am going to start with one of the several Yakima cross bar systems I have in the attic. The old style square bolt through towers will work perfectly to get two of my yaks off the roof of my truck.

need input on a trailer

I am at the point where I need a trailer. My kayak is too long to fit in the bed of my truck legally and after a day of fishing, I am too beat to heft it to the roof rack of my 4x4 dodge. Since my wife is now joining me in her yak, it is now a double workout. I have looked at the Yakima and like the...

Re: Trend towards heavier/bulkier kayaks

The problem I am having is finding a yak for my wife. She can not handle a 75lb yak by herself.

It is rough on me after a full day to load up my ultra 4.7 or Cuda 14 on top of the truck. If I had the space, I would have a trailer.

Re: WS Thresher 155 or Ocean Kayak Ultra 4.7 ??

I have one of the original 4.7s from NZ and it is a great boat. Also have the ice box which is a great design but it has a large volume . If you are using it off shore , it is great. For inshore, I use a fishbag .

I also just picked up a Cuda 14 since I want to be able to stand up and flyfish.
