Tubing bender? (Cuda)

Is anyone interested in bending some stainless tubing for a Cuda Elite seat? I have a pretty corroded aluminum frame seat and don't feel like wasting money on a replacement that will do the same thing over a year or two... (Salt water entered the tubes through the pins, died a slow death.)

Re: Gps/depthfinder

Humminbird 385ciDI mounted on a adjustable pole that can either bring it close or pushed forward for going through the surf. Turtled it a few times and no issues with it's waterproof construction. No problems with it and don't think you will have any issues with any model that you pick unless it's a...

Re: Yak load and unload

I have a lifted Landcruiser and load it similarly, 76" height from the ground. I am loading a Cuda 14 which has a skid plate on the rudder end that prevents damage on hard ground. Am looking at buying a tilting rack to help the load/unload process now. KariTek ELRR, next best option would be a ...

Re: What's A Good Spinning Reel

I would lean towards the Penn Spinfisher series if you can handle the weight, I have an older Saragosa Shimano spinner which worked like a jewel until it was dunked in saltwater and got sand in it. The sand and plastic parts did not agree with each other, it's an OK reel now even after replacing a f...

Re: Pocket Knife recommendations

I like fixed blades, cheap and no problems so far. The one on my belt is a Fallkniven which went with me a few times but I keep a $20 Remington with stainless blade on the yak. The sheath is secured to the seat and the knife itself is also tied off to prevent losing it overboard. (Guess I could stra...

Re: Really disappointed with the city of Galveston

A decent spot used to be SLP in Galveston... Too many idiots out and about now. Last time I was in that area, kids were all lined up in suped up 4wd trucks and were racing each other and some idiot in a Landcruiser was driving all over the dunes and not to mention the ATV's running back and forth. W...

Re: Jackson kayaks 14 ft cuda

I like mine and am happy with it, stable, lots of storage but... it doesn't have a mirage drive! With that said, the Cuda rolls over pretty good in the surf and doesn't leak much at all in the hull. You also have plenty of scuppers for water drainage so installing a transducer for a FF is made easie...

The advantages of a Mirage drive, more fishing and less tired from paddling.... With those winds I would have been too tired to drop lines..

Re: Is there a tent that is designed for beach camping?

Hey, I bought a Springbar tent a few years ago but it's the big one.. Definitely not a hiking type tent as it is more convenient for the vehicle to carry it. I haven't read much about problems other than it being heavy... Another Solution that puts you above the sand...: http://www.autohomeus.com/ro...

Re: Question about knives

Not a hunting knife but a EDC. 3-4" Drop point (More durable for abuse, full tang and has a pommel) Easy to sharpen but retains an edge. (prefer stainless with a convex grind) The above are satisfied with the Fallkniven F1, purchased back in 2010.. The only think I dislike is the sheath. This b...

Re: Is the sand packed on the West End of Galveston?

Was down there last Friday, bingo about the spring-breakers tearing up the place... Kids in big 4x4's doing donuts and sand drags, not to mention ATV's and dirtbikes and people driving in and through the Dunes... Not an ideal place to go, kids and alcohol rarely go together and most of the time Murp...

It happens, when I went to pickup my Jackson Cuda the sales guy noticed it had three pretty good sized "thumb" holes in it from the molding process. Manufacturing defect, had to wait a few extra days to pick up a replacement. Unfortunately he didn't see the holes until after he rigged it f...

7-8ft of water, maybe 50yds from the brown water and trawling at 1.5-2mph with a few pauses. Drags are always set light and had maybe 20ft of line out while paddling.

Re: McFaddin East on fire, again!!!!

Am a little late on this update... I tried two artificial's, a yellow waxwing boy and a DOA 4" shrimp and neither were able to produce in 7-8ft waters. Then a few hours later I switched to a hot-pink waxwing and started trolling and within a few minutes I got a bite! At first the fish headed st...

Re: Wonder why nobody talks about Surfside?

I hit surfside mainly to hit the rig off of the beach, a 1.8 or 2 mile paddle out. Recently I have been going to McFaddin due to it being closer to the house, less traffic as I don't have to drive through Houston, and don't need to paddle as far out to catch some big fish. (Also has smaller waves, w...

What he said, Hawglights... I have a Destroyer mounted to a Larue and a Mini-Sniper for my bow/PCP airgun... No issues but I recommend the Mini as the Destroyer is much larger/more bulk.
(Mini is in red, Destroyer is blue)

Another option is the Laser Genetics/BSA ND3 subzero, more expensive though.

Re: Fishing BTB High Island Questions

I normally have 2 rods with me, One is more of a backup as it can extend my fishing time if the primary goes down. Mechanical failure can happen at any time, and depending where your fishing it it will be a long paddle back in if you had a single rod. When it is real slow I drop both rods in the wat...
