shrimp/marsh question
I gave a guy a lift at the boat launch today in Galveston that said that the fishing in the marshes get a lot better in a couple of weeks because the shrimp will be migrating into shallows to spawn. Is this true.

Re: Buggs and Reds
I have the Buggs lures but I have low confidence fishing them. How do you fish them (steady retrieve or jerk em)?
gators
I sitting side saddle in my yak today (feet in the water) fishing Chocolate Bayou and a guy fishing nearby warned me about a big gator he saw a few minutes earlier. Do I need to worry about hanging my feet in the water if gators are present?

Re: Chocolate Bayou Sat 21 report
pulled into the launch under the 2004 bridge around 7am. Got out of my truck to unload my kayak and got attacked by a hellish mosquito swam. Sprayed so much bug dope on that my lips got numb. Dragged the yak over so much disgusting garbage that I almost puked out the bug deet I just consumed. Water...

Re: almost useless Chocolate bay report 06/24
Hit Chocolate bay Sunday morning. Fished the horseshoe cuts just up and down from the FM 2004 Launch. Caught 4 flounder on a super slow retrieve on plastics with 1/8th jig. Also caught a 2 ft eel that choked on the paddle tail of my bait. Nice morning, no wind......finally caught my fist gulf coast...

dragging kayak over oysters
I am new to saltwater kayak fishing. I tried dragging my kayak over a shallow oyster reef and after a couple of steps sunk to my crotch, fell forward and cut my hand right to the bone. Day was over before it even started. Was this bad luck? Is getting out and walking on an oyster reef a terrible idea?

Re: Xmas Bay report 05/12
thanks for all the tips. Whats the minimum tide movement that is considered ideal? Half a foot.....one foot? I also think I really need to learn Kayak organization. I used a typical tackle bag but it was really annoying reaching back trying to open zipper pockets. I ended up with a lap full of tackl...
