Re: Where to put in at Lake Belton
Iron Bridge Park. Off the main lake, safer this time of year with all the ski boats that are coming out. And a lot quieter.

Re: Paddle yaks and rudders
Do you have a link for that rudder? Looking for one. I've been entertaining the idea of just mounting it rigid to keep tracking smooth and straight, and just raise it up when I need to turn. Not excited about dropping $300 on a kit. Really don't feel like I need the foot controls. I have enough thin...

Watch craigslist. Always someone moving/upgrading/getting out and selling reasonably. Then when they outgrow them, resell them and use the funds toward the upgrade.

Re: Waco Yakkers???
Belton Lake has some good opportunity. I like to put in at Iron Bridge Park and paddle up the Leon. Good fishing and usually pretty easy paddling. Great when the whites are running. Then after you are tired from the day of catching fish, you can just float back down to the truck.

Re: Help me rig out my Ride.
Lots of options. I have a Ride 115, model just prior to the 115x. I love it for its stability. I can take my daughter with me and not worry about tipping it over. I've done overnight river trips on it. I have a hummingbird fish finder, but have never used it. I just look at the structure and go from...

Re: Buffalo River Trip starting 22 July
Curious how the trip to the Buffalo went, assuming you ended up going? Any tips on the trip? Curious who you used for an outfitter, where you camped, the whole skinny. Was up there this summer with the family but didn't trip the river. Going to try for a 3 day trip this coming spring.

Re: Easy camping food
I like to take leftovers from family supper from time to time and put them in vacuum seal bags and freeze them. I've always got a small cooler on the kayak (my go to is a small thick-walled styrofoam cooler that my wife had at work that they receive vaccines in), I'll toss them in. If I'm camping, I...

Thanks Rig'emNGig'em. Just flung a craving on me for some Tijuana Fries, a few hands of dominoes, and a pitcher at the Chicken. I miss those lunch break beers.

Re: Best Waterfowl Kayak
I hunt out of my 11.5 WS Ride. Just hang a dozen dekes on the back, shotgun in the hatch, and go to work. I drape some blind material over the ends and clip it to a bent piece of 1/2"pvc for a blind. easy easy. I can sleep at least 30 minutes longer than my buddies who go out in a boat.

Shells. Little place in a gray wood building off 11th avenue. Make a shrimp pasta that has red pepper and sauce. Will change your world. They have weird hours and aren't open every day. But great. San Juan is great too. Excellent fish tacos.

Re: Colorado mule and elk hunt
Any suggestions for glassing? Binoculars or spotting scope? Personal preference or is one better? Also, any suggestions on sizing of optics. Binoculars are essential. I'd only bring a spotting scope if you are committed to taking only a trophy bull. A spotting scope can weed out sub-trophy bulls fr...

Will be in SPI next week. Not looking like I'll be able to take the kayak this trip. Any thoughts on where a man could fish without any type of boat? Wade out in the bay? Tips on tackle and bait and locations? I fished what I presume is a city park on the causeway side north out of town. I just wade...

Re: Harbor Freight Kayak Trailer
For a couple hundred bucks more, you can have a much sturdier trailer from Tractor Supply Co. I started out with a HF trailer, and dumped it in favor of this, and it is so much better. Optimized-Capture.JPG I paired it with these truck racks with kayak carriers, and I love it! Optimized-DSC00722.JP...

Where on the Little River did you put in at? I live in Temple and the entire Little River trip is a bucket list item of mine. Shoot me a PM or email jongersbach@yahoo.com. I'd love to get some more info on your trip. Thanks!

Re: need help planning a weekend river trip
Sounds like an awesome trip. I am leaving in the morning for the Brazos between FM979 (jones prairie to calvert) halfway to the FM485 (Port Sullivan) bridge. About an hour and a half from College Station to Marlin bridge, then could get picked up at FM485 bridge after a couple day float. The Brazos ...

Granger, Thanks for posting about that site. Didn't know there was a launching site around Granger. Good to know. Regarding the road, either the squeaky wheel will get some grease, or get sold in a garage sale. I'm glad to know of a new launch, regardless of the condition of the road. An 1/8th mile,...

I have a WS Ride 115 and my 5 (nearly 6 year old) daughter rides perfectly on top of the hatch. Cut up some foam padding to soften the seat and she loves it! Never have felt tippy or unsteady and have been out in pretty rough water. Scupper plugs will keep the water out of the footwells and your beh...

Re: Saltwater fishing near Houston
Here's what I propose. Bring your rod & reel and your lures. I suggest if you have waders, bring waders. Once you're in town, assuming you will have Internet access, come back on this site and ask closer to the times when you're going to be fishing. Wind direction & speed and tides will be ...
