At the start of summer, after the first drowning in an area lake, one of the rescue guys on TV said: "We've NEVER recovered a drowning victim that was wearing a PFD!" That pretty much says it all.

Re: ram mari nuts
In the boating/marine world, those are called "well nuts". I have used them a lot. The ones I used had a brass insert inside the rubber sleeve. They worked great in fiberglass. Can't tell much from their pics.

Ron mc: Fish only see blue and monochromes? You mean those lure manufacturers that offer 47 colors of worms and crank baits are just fishing for fishermen? Suspicions confirmed! The Australian guy that has caught more 1000+ pound marlins than anyone one else on the planet said it: All lures are alik...

Lake Pat Cleburne West Ramp?
I went to the west ramp today on Lake Pat Cleburne and it's not only closed, but barricaded with concrete barriers and a steel guard rail! The water has finally come back up over the end of the ramp. The weeds have filled in, blocking access to the lake. Why haven't they opened it? I heard they are ...

Re: FISHING HOLES NEAR ARLINGTON THAT PRODUCE?????
I just called Cleburne State Park today(7-08-14)and their recording said the lake is still ten feet below normal! Lake Pat Cleburne caught a lot of water recently and is only 3-1/3 feet below pool level. I haven't fished there yet, but it's supposed to be a pretty good fishing lake. Lake Alvarado is...

If the Zebra Mussels were tasty and good to eat, or a sexual stimulant like oysters, maybe they would be eradicated quickly. When the Lionfish became prevalent in the Caribbean, I told my friends that they should tell the locals they were a great aphrodisiac when eaten, and they would disappear soon...

Where do you Joe Poolers put in? Britton Park ramp? Are there any other launch sites at the South end of the lake? How do you pay the $5 ramp fee? I didn't see a Walnut Creek on the map. I saw Mountain Creek and Bedford Branch. Does anyone know the Annual Pass fee? And, more importantly, what do you...

Any Tips for Fishing Around Docks & Boathouses?
I've been fishing Lake Alvarado, and the only cover is cattails in very shallow water, and docks and boathouses. Any tips for pulling the fish out from under docks? The water is usually three feet or less in depth.

Online: HOOK1 Great Prices & Selection, Quick Service, Cheap Shipping Unless you have very long arms, get the Mount Extension. Also remember to buy any fasteners you may need, like plastic pop rivets, etc. Also, pick up a couple of small key rings to put thru the holes at the back of the foot pe...

FYI: Advice for Perception Owners(and others)
I carry my Perception Pescador 12 on the top of my pickup camper top, upside-down. Last time I launched, I found I had lost one of the adjustable foot pegs. They slide up and down tracks on each side. I assume after high winds and such, one of them slid back and off, and hit the highway. I ordered a...

Yeah, I drove down to Kimball Bend Park and Nolan River Park at the north end of Whitney yesterday, and it was pretty sad. The lady at Kimball Park said their ramp hadn't been usable for years! The end of the ramp at Nolan River Park was just out of the water. I'm in Keene, and it has rained all day...

Jeff: Nice catches from Old Lake Ingram! I called it SUBWAY, because for me, it was the Home of The Foot-long! I just moved from Ingram to Keene, just east of Cleburne. Right before I moved, I started fishing the North Guadalupe, just out of Hunt. The first bridge north of Hunt is Mayhugh Crossing. ...

Re: First outing..? Lake Arlington, Joe Pool or Mountain Creek
Mountain Creek Lake: Not very big, no protection in the wind. One free ramp. Lake Arlington: Several ramps, questionable fish quality. Day fee: $5, Annual Pass: $30. Lake Joe Pool: Good fishing, lots of ramps, State & local parks. Ramps: $5 or $10 per day, depending on which you use. YMMV TexasJim

YAKerrvillians: Have any of you done the Llano River run west of and into Junction? I'd like to do that before it gets goofy cold. Is it worth the trouble? Does anyone want to do it? Re: Upper guadalupe near ingram
I live outside Ingram and fish both Ingram lakes. Last time I fished Old Lake Ingram, I got a major backlash by the lilypads across from the theater. I was patiently untangling my bird's nest and happened to look in the water, and there were about twenty gar, from 2 to 3 feet hanging around my kayak...

I'm new to TKF also, but have been kayak fishing for a year or so. I bought the Pescador 12 and am very happy with it's features and performance. The seat is OK, but after about five hours, my butt hurts. I found a thin inflatable foam pad that I suspect was for a wheelchair, and it helps a lot. I g...

Uncle Vinny! I was in San Leon in the 70's, launching my sailboat, with a couple of others. As shallow as the bay was, I'd been better off in a kayak. One of my buddies from the Virgin Islands used to keep his Whaler there, before he moved to the clear water. I need to get back there one of these da...

New To The Forum
I've been kayak fishing for about a year, with a Perception Pescador 12, using baitcast rods & reels and artificial lures. Not much luck, but I'm slowly getting better. I fish the Guadalupe River in Ingram, like uplandrun. Look forward to learning you guys' secrets.
