85MPH, May 5th, 2004 my first kayak tournament. my first tournament also and that day was definitely a major trip ...... I grew up with hurricanes in S.Louisiana and then Galveston ..... Audrey, Camille, Alicia (beachfront), Allison (seawall), Rita (seawall) and Ike (seawall) and some very ...

Re: Galveston Seaweed
The beaches are so much better without all that mess. Define "better". Better for beach restoration, dune formation, shorebirds, and the predatory fish we love to chase? Or better for your average Houston tourist who wants a clean place to put out a towel? Always stirring the $#!T as usua...

Galveston Seaweed
Amazingly .... so far this year I have not seen one seaweed clump yet ... funny how one year can be so different from the next. Last year this was the Seawall towards the end of June but it started rolling in by early May. The beaches are so much better without all that mess. http://i58.tinypic.com/...

Re: Alligators in Jamaica Beach Marsh?
there are some large gator gar but I personally haven't seen an alligator on the south shore of the bay in 35 years of living on the Island ... you will find them on the north shore of the bay around fresh water drainage into the bay.

Re: New Lightweight Wilderness Tarpon ABS kayaks???
It seems like multiple companies are coming out with these lighter kayaks. Has anyone ever paddled one around the shell we have on the upper Texas coast? I'd be curious to see if they could be punctured easily or if they hold their own . Yes .. simply Yes Hurricane came out with the Phoenix 140 &am...

Re: ROTOMOLDED SOLOSKIFF
I know you do your best, but could the molded in cooler be made just a little larger? A slot redfish in Texas is 20" to 28", and the limit is 3 fish. Imagine how large of a cooler you would want for a 20 pound bag of ice, a limit of reds, and a couple of trout. Yep ... sure seems like 8-1...

Re: ROTOMOLDED SOLOSKIFF
What is the interior length, width, and depth of the molded in cooler in the bow? what is the maximum length and width cooler that can be strapped down in front of the motor at the aft end of the boat? Area in front of motor is 10.5" X 25" Cooler is basically 20" x 10 center measurem...

Re: ROTOMOLDED SOLOSKIFF
from the picture it looks like the roto model's inside bow has a different layout than the fiberglass model ... curious as to it's actual configuration. Most of the time it's just me and the solo should work fine ... I should also consider a slightly larger skiff designed for two just in case. I thi...

thats an awesome kayak Someone mentioned above - molding in a scupper for an anchor pin ... great on a yak, but on a yak that can go up to 18mph not so good...why ? The scupper because of water force will spray water in a rooster tail all over... This was an option I considered but checked off the ...

Re: ROTOMOLDED SOLOSKIFF
They should incorporate a 1" diameter heavy molded thru-hull hole on both rear sides of the roto-mold hull where all you would need to do is drop a stake-out stick down thru either or both holes to secure the solo in shallow water ....... it should be easy to incorporate this into the mold just...
