Re: What is wrong with some people in Corpus.

There are dill weeds everywhere. I tend to think those you mentioned are the exception rather than the norm no matter where you live. Unfortunately we spend too much time publicizing the antics of the idiots rather than praising the good deeds. I think people are inherently good. I think Corpus is ...

Re: Houston Wildlife Pic

Not kayak related, but thought it was cool. My brother Sam took this pic outside his office window yesterday. This fox got up...walked around...but mainly curled up and slept in the sun all day until sundown, then took off. His office is in the Westpark Dr. Fondren area in that office park neighbor...

The smaller ones are excellent eatin'. Personally, I like the 14" to 22" range.

Re: Hobie Sport for the Surf?

I have a Perception Sport 8' for playing in the surf. Its a wild ride, as any short kayak is going to be,... it is some big fun, though. It is probably similar to a Frenzy, but it comes with a built in seat. I think I paid $499 for it at Gander. As for not flipping a short kayak in the surf, that de...

Re: Do you see the gulf warming up quicker this year?

Remember that earthquake in Japan a few years ago, it changed the axis of the Earth by 26 degrees. Could this possibly be changing the weather around the world? I think its a real good possibility. The quake in Japan shifted the earth's axis ~6.5 inches. According to scientists, the axis shifts ~3....

Re: To the kayaker in Christmas Bay today

Duck hunters can't be firing on kayakers. That is chicken*hit and maybe even criminal. Like Russ said, there are other ways to get someone's attention. I know if it were me and that shot came anywhere close to me, I'd make the call to one of the four game wardens in Brazoria County. Not sure what h...

Re: TPWD weighs in on kayak registration.

I'd much rather participate in a beach or crab trap cleanup than pay the government money to register my kayak.

100% of the effort would then be directly benefiting the need.

Dang, that is some major weed. I've seen it bad, but I don't know if I've seen it that bad.

Anyone know if the weed is that bad down on the coastal bend area (corpus)?

Re: I'm hoping

How accurate is swell information 5 days in advance? 4-5' doesn't seem that fun. 5 day marine forecast on the Texas Gulf Coast is always iffy. That said, 4-5' swell is still plenty fishable, and especially if the period is not too short. If the local wind is big enough to break the tops of the swel...

Offshore Rigs or Platforms near Bob Hall Pier

I'm looking to do another near-shore rig trip. Any of y'all know if there are any rigs or platforms near Bob Hall Pier or in PINS? Looking for something ~4 to 6 miles offshore. If in PINS, please give approximate location (Park entrance, Yarborough Pass, Little Shell, Big Shell, Mansfield Pass,... e...

Probably best not to go near there right now. I think the Brazoria County Sheriff's dept has it locked down. Three shot at Surfside Beach: one killed, two wounded. :(
