greenlight on kayak
I got to try out a new piece of equipment coming to the market from Wildcat Lighting, a green light for the kayak (Extreme Lighting). It is a pretty nifty little light that definitely attracts the bait to the light and also gives you light to navigate and mess with your tackle. I will continue using it and hopefully get some more footage in action. Check it out.

Re: greenlight on kayak
Well it has an orange light on the backside of it that is supposed to help keep insects away. I didn't notice anything other then the normal mosquitos, but like I said I will keep testing and see how it is on multiple outings.CCKAYAKER wrote:How is it on attracting flying insects, gnats, mosquitoes and such ?

Whooaa...
Acid flashback with that reflection.
How well could you see after using said light on the paddle back? Lots o bait... See any large predators in the fray?

Re: greenlight on kayak
I left the light on the whole paddle back, just turned it facing out so it was like a guide light. Didn't see any big fish around, but I don't think I was in a very good spot either. I need more field testing, or atleast that is what I am going to tell my wife so I can get out again.pgardn wrote:Whooaa...

Need more info. How was it attached to the yak? What is the power source, etc?

Re: greenlight on kayak
I've used this light before and SJ is right. It really does attract alot of bait! It mounts to a regular Scotty Rod holder base as it is designed around the Scotty 360 degree sea light, and uses any 12 volt supply you want. I used a small motorcycle battery and an array of 8 1.5' volts. The moto battery lasted from around dark thirty until about 4:30 in the a.m. and was still going strong when I shut it down.
Great product, and watch for these Wildcat Lighting guy's!

As already mentioned it fits in any scotty mount. I had mine coming off of my X-wing in the picture, but you could easily put it in about any location on your yak. I was use 8 AA batteries in a waterproof bag, not sure how long that will last since it was still working when I left.Night Wing wrote:Need more info. How was it attached to the yak? "The final production unit is still in the making ( working out bugs) to insure quality product...
It is almost finished.... it will have several styles for diverse applications and should cost about $150.00 for the basic unit... then options such as mounts and attachments will be available for it as well."

Re: greenlight on kayak
If this is the link to these lights, I can't find anything on their website to click on that shows the actual lights.

Re: greenlight on kayak
I don't work for this company so I am not sure about their website. I do know that what I used was a prototype and is not on the market yet so that may be why you can't find anything on their site. Hope that helps.Night Wing wrote:If this is the link to these lights, I can't find anything on their website to click on that shows the actual lights.

Floating along the shoreline at night in shallow water with one of these lights attached to a yak, one might be able to gig some flounder.

Re: greenlight on kayak
I have never floundered, but I would be willing to bet it would be a pretty good option.Night Wing wrote:Floating along the shoreline at night in shallow water with one of these lights attached to a yak, one might be able to gig some flounder.
