The ponds on Galveston’s west end

Post by Floundapounda122 »

Everytime I hit the salt I drive by atleast 5-6 lakes on Galveston’s west end. I’ve always been curious if those ponds were fresh water and if they held any bass. Does anyone know anything about these and if they do hold freshwater species?

My opinion, those would be too brackish to hold bass (although one pond looks like it has a pier). But wouldn't hurt to wet a line, just make sure you're not trespassing to access them.

My BIL's family used to own an old farmhouse in Flour Bluff with a big pond, and I slept there a few nights fishing (JFK causeway and Bird Is.) with my nephew. The only thing we ever caught in the pond were scads of stunted skipjacks.
(The cannibal pond skipjacks would attack any fly rod offering from poppers to spoons.)
