From the latest TPWD report posted 2 days ago:
West Galveston BayGOOD. 87-88 degrees. The action has been good along the shoreline for Speckled trout, redfish, and black drum. Live shrimp under a popping cork is best. San Luis Pass is still a hot spot
Y'all go get it! Just be careful and take a buddy if you can. Keep an eye on the tide too NOAA Link. It's slow outgoing each morning till around noon, then strong outgoing dropping nearly a foot. I'd avoid launching when the tide is strong, you probably will never make it in a kayak but it might assist nicely in coming back to launch if you head out early.

See my report for details from last weekend. As witnessed last week and further validated by this tpwd report, suspending bait is the main ticket, shrimp or bright colored plastic under a cork. I'd love to go myself but too much to do at home :(
