The winds finally died off for a bit so I went in search of reds on the muddy flats this morning. It took a few miles of searching to locate them, and they were tough to spot. Never saw a single school working, but individuals were widely scattered and quietly picking through the grass edges for shrimp and crabs. A softly presented crab fly proved popular, but regular soft plastics just seemed to spook most of the fish I pitched to. Oh well, I'm glad to have a couple of fresh reds for dinner!

That's awesome you're seeing shrimp in the flats! This is the first report I've heard this spring.

They're not very big (most only about 1"), but in some spots they were really jumping to get away from fish.
