Whats up with the shortage of OT Salty Yaks?

Post by kenne1816 »

Hey all, looking to upgrade my yak ride with a pld and have settled on the old Town Salty 120 PDL. Let me say that there is defiantly a lack of buying options. Found a teal and black over in Lake Charles yak shop, however I'm holding out for the amber and black color combo. Ive talked to half a dozen online shops that could put me on a waiting list. Until then anybody here a Salty owner or having shopping shortages. :D

Its not just with OT lots of brands are hard to get. We sell Chinese dirt bikes, scooters and atv's at our store and have a hard time keeping them in stock. We sell 100+ a week and last year when covid started prices went up 50% and that didn't slow the buyers down one bit. A customer will come in one day and look at one then come back the next day to buy it only to find out that it sold and that model is now on back order. Kayaks are no different so if you see one you like might want to get it before its gone :cat:

There is a plastics shortage. The price of lumber is also going up.

Where are you working, Saltykat?
It sounds like an Academy Store up in Chicago! Can you get any discounts on kayaks for the HOBIE NAVY? Image

Come on down to Texas for some Spring saltwater fishing. We'll let you borrow one of our extra yaks. Yessir. Image

Good to hear from you, Donny!

We miss you finding big Trout for us and throwing out one of your guide buoys... Ha ha. Shoffer is getting better, but you were as good as fish-finding gets.

The Hobie Navy is nightfishing the lighted Sea Isle canals tonight. Wish you were here.

See you around Thanksgiving...

I'll make you pay for that sassy reply, Ron... Watch for my Hobie Navy Fishing Report from last night's nightfishing session...

At least ONE of us went home with gamefish!

Okay...

Which one of you guys moved my defective light at 00:00:15? With an accomplice!

It was the almost burnt out white one, soon to be replaced by one of the original design which are proving to be a lot more durable... But I had to try a new design. It started out brighter, but just didn't hold up after a couple of months. The green one is the tried and true design, about 2 years old. The (barely) white one is a different LED I tested and found lacking after just a month or so.

Just kidding. They're 12V and epoxy encapsulated now, designed to be moved around with no damage at all, unlike the old high voltage glass bulbs that may have given you a nasty surprise.

And I'm looking forward to the catch report.

That's me and Watson, Impulse. I was telling him how hilariously awesome it is that you have 6 lights in front of your dock. It's like an Astroworld for gamefish - and nighttime kayak fishermen!

It was me. The bottom shad of my tandem rig snagged it. As always, let me know of any cost associated with it and I’ll gladly drop it in your mail slot.

This should prove to you TKFers that we lawyers can be honest and act responsibly...

As long as a big court case or financial deal isn't messed up...

Ha ha! Good one, Ron.

The plaintiff's lawyers (which I am not; I do big business law) don't call their fees "reparations." That's political bullshit pushed by phony local representatives like Sheila Jackson Lee (shudder... ). She's a menace to white and black society.

Those percentage fees are called "contingent fees." I did make $2.5 million on a contingency fee back in my first court case. But I didn't chase an ambulance to get it. I sued the biggest real estate developers at Walden on Lake Conroe for building and selling dangerously-constructed lakefront condominiums. Then I got into much bigger deals and cases.

Hope that clears it up.

If you want great legal representation in court, call Shoffer or Watson. If they aren't out fishing, ha ha.

I'm guessing if we went fishing and discussed my case, they'd bill me.

Not if you put us on some solid gamefish... Image. Ron, you're entitled to free legal advice as a certified TKF member.

P. S. I'm stoked. My new cherry red Gibson ESS 335 arrived yesterday.
It's my 7th dang guitar. Maybe I'll plug it into the big lithium battery on Shoffer's kayak... ImageImage

I was of course teasing, and that's a very pretty axe - bet it sounds great.

PS - you need a Pignose amp if you're going to take it on a kayak.

It sounds as good as my Stratocaster.

I just learned the lead guitar solo from STEELY DAN'S "Reeling In the Years." I play it loud through my Fender Deluxe Reverb amp.

Wow. Let's rock.

DD: That new 335's a beauty! You need to buy my Dr. Z Z-28 I just listed on Craigslist in Houston to play it thru! TexasJim

Thanks for the nice guitar offer, Texas Jim!

But I've got more money than sense, lol.

After getting the red ESS 335, I also just bought a brand new Fender Jaguar, the Signature Kurt Cobain model tricked out with extra tone controls and the best floating whammy bar ever invented. And don't forget it was also the preferred guitar of early "surf music." Love it!

My young guitar friends who love Nirvana, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and other grunge bands finally got to me.

Let's rock around the clock! ImageImage

DD: I was telling you that you need my boutique amp, not a guitar, to play that 335 thru. I was already hearing you channel Elliot Randall. Becker & Fagen sure knew how to hire top-quality "session" players, didn't they? I thought that was another Larry Carlton solo, til I looked it up. I even have another "coonskin cap" I could throw in, to sweeten the deal. I'd really like to trade it for a Viking Profish 400, but they're out-of-production, and scarce. Maybe one of your fellow ambulance-chasers is hoarding one? So many guitars, so little time! Enjoy. TexasJim

You are well-informed and funny, TJ!

Sorry, but I have 5 great amps already, including my Fender Deluxe Reverb, and for my acoustic guitars, a sweet AER 4-channel amp made in Germany.

But I like you, so consider yourself invited to my house for future Jam Sessions with my band THE TRAIN WRECK! Bring your amp and favorite guitar.

The bad news is my band is all lawyers, kinda like my main kayak companions in the Hobie Navy... But lawyers ain't so bad if you keep 'em hungry and honest, lol. Image

P. S. Am I wearing my MASK wrong? Image
