Baby Crab fly

When the little crabs hatch out and the reds just want a tiny crab instead of a shrimp or minnow imitation, I'll be ready. The little guy is 7/16" across and I don't think I can build this style any smaller. Eyes wouldn't fit in the usual way, so I used UV epoxy to create eyes on top of the shell. Coloring is almost all flourescent - we'll see if they like that or not.

Now I need to see if the fish will eat it.

Glenn: Curious what weight mono you're using for your "weedless" hook guard? TexasJim

I've found that for smaller hooks, 20lb fluoro is limp enough to easily allow hookups but just strong enough to push the weeds around the hook. Larger hooks get 20 lb hard mono because it is just a bit stiffer.
