Free Youth Fly Fishing Instructor Course

Post by Barry »

I just got an e-mail from Ann Miller letting me know:
The State is sponsoring a Free class for experienced fly fishers who want to introduce fly fishing to young Texans and share their love of the outdoors with the next generation. If y'all are interested, please read the attachments below.

Fly Fishing Instructor Course

CRRC Recreation Center
Below Canyon Dam
125 Mabel Jones Dr.
Canyon Lake, TX
January 31st , 2004
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This FREE course will equip adults to
teach basic fly fishing skills and prepare youth
to be responsible anglers who are respectful
of Texas' fish and water resources.
Upon completion of the Fly Fishing
Instructor Class, volunteers receive a
special instructor pin, become part
of TPWD's Angler Education team and are
able to order incentive awards and
educational materials for students.

To sign up for this course, contact Ann Miller at
512-389-4732 or email: ann.miller@tpwd.state.tx.us

Class participants need to bring drinks
and sack lunches and wear comfortable
clothing for outdoor activities.

I'd love to teach kids how to fly fish. I love fishing with my kids. I suppose I'd actually have to know how to fly fish though before taking that course. Or just catch a fish.

This is a great program for both the instructors and the kids.
It's geared more to introducing the kiddos to the experience, rather than the technical aspects. I think you would be a fine instructor.
Go for it Man!!!!!!!

I received an email from Ann Miller. I signed up and there are still spots open if anyone else wants to get in. It's completely free and she says to bring your rod if you want to do some flyfishing after class.
