Cuda Options

Post by txbrett »

Cudas are pretty much ready to go from the factory, but I attempted a couple of alternatives to some popular accessories. First, the Therma-rest lumbar support. My Cuda 14 is a 2013 and didn't come with one like some of the newer ones do. I used an Everlast wade belt that I don't really use for wading anymore, and strapped it to my seat. The back support padding on the back of the belt acts as a lumbar pad on the seat.
Second, instead of ordering the mesh panels that go next to the seat, I used some bungee that I had lying around to make a tackle box keeper. I used the tie points/hooks that came standard on the kayak to attach the bungee to. No new holes! It doesn't look great, but it'll probably work alright.
Anyway, these are just a couple of things I did today to my Cuda since fishing wasn't an option. Neither of these alternatives will work as well as the original accessories, but they'll get me by. Gotta save where you can!!! Especially when saving for a new Kraken 15.5...
