Net Recommendations?

Hello all! New here, great to be a part of such an active community!! Hopefully this thread is in the right spot. I’m still kind of a newbie but I’ve had my Kayak for about a month now, and after about 5 frog fish have shaked the hook at the side of my kayak I think it’s time for a net.... any recommendations?

how about a fish grip?

A small landing net with rubber netting is the way to go. Hooks don't get as caught in the rubberized netting, too. I prefer ones with shorter handles. The ones with longer handles that let you use your entire arm as leverage are becoming more popular these days. I'm not a fan of the excess bulk and length to store it.

hey Josh, I still have the net I used to carry out on the flats 30 years ago, hanging on a pegboard, but found even then I never used it.
Honestly, I don't even use the grips much - from a kayak it's so easy to reach your hand under a redfish belly and slide him into the boat.
Hanging over a power boat or dock fishing, those long-handle nets are priceless.

I do use a net for tailwater trout fishing
One thing is for sure, rubber nets don't get hooked - especially important fishing multiple-dropper-fly rigs - braided cotton and nylon nets eat barbed hooks, even if you pinch the barbs.

If you're losing fish at the kayak I agree a net is the way to go.

Like Neumie said rubber is best. Plastic or rubber coated works too. Hooks don't get caught and they're easier on the fish if/when you release them by not removing as much slime off the fish- especially trout.

I like something with either an extendable or removable handle that gives me flexibility if I want to do some pier fishing or soaking baits for bigger catfish.
