velcro cable tape for spool tender

Post by Ron Mc »

The heavy nylon-backed velcro cinch straps have a lot of uses, from coiling garden hoses to strapping things onto bicycles.
They also have kayak strapping uses, such as keeping your stringer staged

I was looking for something to use for baitcast spool tender - something to wrap around the spool and keep the braid plus 3' heavy fluoro shock tippet.
Ran across this stuff on amazon, sold in electronics as hook and loop cable tape. It's intended to keep up with electrical signal cables.
It's available in widths from 1/4" to 1".
It's also very soft, including very soft and fine hooks on the "grabby" side.

You can cut it to whatever length you need, and it works great - it's soft, and sticks only to itself.
Can think of all kinds of uses, such as strapping rods down, keeping up with bulk line spools, etc.

Specifically here on my baitcasters, it slides through the frame with the spool in place, and fastens to itself.
