Re: Windows
I think Mark gave it a shot at Surfside jetties this week (MDLR on YouTube), but he got skunked.
I’m so ready to get salty, y’all.

Re: Windows
PINS and other beaches needs to open up for camping before I can take advantage of any windows.
Info is hard to come by, but from what I can gather on the internets, all Corpus area beaches are only open for day-use.
If anyone knows differently, let me know please.
Open for day-use does not do us folks that have to drive in from out of town any good.

That's actually the idea...Endo wrote:Open for day-use does not do us folks that have to drive in from out of town any good.
At least here in Galveston, where they only opened the beach for 3 hours in the morning- starting today. They had wanted to open the beach to locals only, but the state land office says that's illegal. So they're discouraging tourists by limiting the hours, making it not worth a long drive.
I'm not smart enough to agree or disagree with it. But I do understand the rationale behind it.
Re: Windows
Yeah, I assumed that policy was to keep out of towners away.
Just wanting to make sure I don't miss some info somewhere.
I was hoping at least that PINS would open up overnight camping...its so huge and no one wants to be next to anyone else camping even in normal times.

Re: Windows
I'm almost positive the beach is open. Only thing I heard was there's a burn ban so no bonfires on the beach but I know of a few people planning on going this weekend.

Pick a week and head down then pray to the Ocean Gods for many windows.

Well into May and still no windows to get out. Will this wind EVER lay down?
Re: Windows
This wind has been brutal! Many times even too windy to chase reds in the shallows. Seems like a repeat of last year.Prof. Salt wrote:Well into May and still no windows to get out. Will this wind EVER lay down?

Re: Windows
I fished shallow with an old friend Friday in winds of 20+ and managed 8 reds and over 30 (small) trout on the 8 wt, but it was a workout. I was sore the next day, lol!

Lol that's a workout without the fishing part.Prof. Salt wrote:but it was a workout. I was sore the next day, lol!
Re: Windows
Prof. be careful with those workouts. Yes, workouts can cause soreness, make sure you recover from the workout totally.SWFinatic wrote:Lol that's a workout without the fishing part.Prof. Salt wrote:but it was a workout. I was sore the next day, lol!

Re: Windows
Tonight, of course, it was windy again. I paddled 6.2 miles on the bayfront in winds blowing 20-27, and surfed a long downwind leg across the bay, with several runs of 400-600 yards at 10-11 mph. I've mostly recovered from surgery but I'm still trying to regain muscle use after nerve damage due to the pinching of the nerve root. Lately I'm striking a balance between regaining strength and recovering from each workout. I generally paddle hard every other day and go easier in between. This evening was a hard paddle, but my left arm is slowly remembering how to function correctly, and I'll sleep great tonight!
Once the wind lays I want to be at full strength to take advantage of every chance possible.

Great to here you are recovering Professor!
Can't wait to get the notification on your first reel screaming video of the season man!
I have been getting my stuff together and building some leaders to pass the time while waiting on these windows.

Re: Windows
This wind is killing me. Seems like spring has been stretching way into Summer. We finally had a good day today but it’s been few and far between

Re: Windows
More windy days this year than I could remember from any previous years.
Waiting for CC folk report when the kings return then I will head south on the next weather break.

Tomorrow is looking pretty good in the Corpus area. I plan on hitting it early in the morning. Anyone else interested in joining up?
