Tuesday Aug 4th Matagorda Rig Report

Post by Wolfman57 »

There were 6 kayakers that launched for the paddle to the Matty Rig. A quick 2 mile paddle in an old Fish and Dive. Big smacks and a few king runs. Most caught fish. Finished the day with 15+ Smacks Keeping 5 of the bigger ones. Large fish was 26”.

Nice work and video! Thanks for sharing. I need to get out to the breakers myself. I might have to wait until next year if this virus crap does not stop.

Nice video! Man that looks like fun. Everytime I go surf fishing in matty, I stare at those rigs and dream about it. I gotta get my butt BTB one of these days.

Nice vid man. I was out there just a few days later, water was still pretty tame. I have yet to make a rig trip (stay with in sight of land due to not having a radio or fellow yaker to go out with.) Caught a bunch of small black tips and gafftops .

It was hard to tell from the video on water color but it looked decent. Could you see blue water further out? I should be there tomorrow night and fish Friday and Saturday.

Also, how was the beach driving? I was down there just before the TS went in at Corpus and the sand was the worst I have seen it. I did not get stuck but saw plenty that were.

There was a Significant water change about 1 mile past the short rig.
