Yellowfin tuna from a kayak in the Gulf

Post by Jolly Roger »

Oz has outdone himself once again going after tuna in 5000' of water in a kayak. These are trips that us common man can only dream about.

I also consider this a true kayak catch, as it was not hooked from the boat then the angler jumped in the kayak. Oz fished for, hooked and landed the fish from the kayak.

I wish we could catch some tuna closer to the beach. After bull reds, black drum and sharks, there isn't anything left to catch with some size. Loved seeing the yellow fin and those dorado were great too. Talk about some good eating on that trip. :D

Wow....ok not as easy as launching in the surf and paddling out. That would be a blast a YFT from a plastic boat in 5000' of water.

Pretty cool

I was using a Tiagra 30 (my big YF reel). The reel was strapped in, just not for this shot. Thanks for the kind words guys.

That is one highly impressive catch.

Congrats Oz. I'm jealous to say the least.
