Building Tips, Tactics, and Techniques (a work in progress)

by gerald
This will be a compilation of building tips, tactics, techniques, ideas, and anything else we think is worth saving for everyone to look at from time to time. Information about boat design will also be included. Heck--if pogo will post a treatise on the reasons and methods of rolling a kayak I'd certainly include that as well. There's a lot of information that we don't want to see scroll back and get lost in the poster's wasteland. There will be no posting on this thread. It is locked. I'll pick everything up from posts by everyone along the way. I'm not sure how to get this done, or how to organize it, but I know we want this to be easily searched by various categories. I will be working my way through all the threads looking for those little nuggets of wisdom and whimsy, fact and fiction (but it's gotta be good fiction). I may miss something. Don't hesitate to let me know if you think I've missed that jewel among the river gravel.

Below are some major categories that we may have. I may combine them, I may split them, I may toss them, and I may edit some for clarity, but we got to start somewhere. Help me out guys!

General Boat Building Stuff
S&G Boat Building Stuff
Strip Boat Building Stuff
Boat Design Stuff
Epoxy, Glue, and Adhesive Stuff stuff
Boat Finishing stuff
Rigging Stuff
Paddle Stuff--Design, Building, and Finish
Plans--Lofting and Layout
Hand and Power Tools
Boat Building Materials
Material Suppliers
Misc. Stuff
Just plain weird ideas
Good ideas

Ok...ya'll get the idea. Now--let's see how we can get this done....
