rivets are screws
rivets are screws
I need some help on what i should use when I put my anchor trolley system and pole holders on. Should I go with rivets are screws. Thanks for the help.
Re: rivets are screws
If you are able to get to the back side to put nuts on I'd do it that way.. I had to use rivets on the majority of my add ons with no problems.
Don't know about the screws. I'd assume rivets would be better than screws. But you know what happens when you assume...

I agree that machine screws with nuts and washers have the most holding power.
If you use rivets make sure to get something like this. They are split and mushroom out real sweet.

Buy um anywhere you want that was just an easy google.

Re: rivets are screws
If you can reach the back, you can get some tight holding also by using fender washers with the rivets. I put a tiny spot of Goop on the washer against the hull before tightening. Lubricates and lets it compress tight against the hull before loading the rivet head up as well as seals the hole from the inside. Don't forget to add a tiny bit of sealer to the hole in the rivet also.
