Wanting to build a boat

I have a 7.5 hp Johnson outboard engine that was given to me and I want to build a boat around it. I'm wanting something that can handle two people and be able to take it to the bay and flats for fishing. Basically I'm wanting something for me and my son (age 4) to go out and fish together and be able to move around a bit, but still want it light enough to launch without a boat ramp. Maybe some kind of poling skiff, size small. I know there are some boat building gurus hanging out in here so speak up and let me know what would work or at least give me a good starting point. Thanks

X2 Bateau.com
I am building one of his designs now and the plan detail is very good.
I also seen this over at B&B yacht

This would require a light trailer.
Be care about selecting a dinghy design. Most are for 2 to 4 horsepower. The designer will list the recommended power. A 7.5 will bury the stern and put the bow in the air.

This is more what I looking for. It seemed to me that the Bateau boats, in the size I need, are more of a flat bottom boat or did I miss something. Thanks for the replies. Having to put it on a trailer is not a problem.

There are a couple of boats at bateau.com that would meet your purposes.

I also like the square stern canoe

I was looking at this one earlier and think this might be the winner. Thanks for your help. My philosophy is if I'm going to do it, I'm doing it with style. I have a good amount of exotic hardwoods on hand that I plan on using for the interior. I'm going to look around a little bit more but I really like this one.

I built this one a few years ago...Lutra Laker, designed by David Nichols in Austin.
It's great down at Rockport on the flats!
