I am thinking of building a wood paddleboard. I am not very experianced working with wood. I work with metal. Is there any tools that I must have? What wood would be a good option. I will be using it for fishing.

You can build a boat with basic woodworking tools. Circular saw, jig saw, a Japanese pull saw, small hand plane and lots of sand paper will get you started. Better yet a good orbital sander. And lots of clamps, they are cheap. You can even make some from pvc pipe. I use luan on my boats. Its cheap but you have to make sure you seal it up real good. If your ever in the Kerrville area you are welcome to try out my jem paddleboard. Its set up for fishing.

X2 on what he said ^^

Also, I liked to use ziplock bags for doing the fillets and just applying the wood flour mix in general.
I'm also planning on using my SUP for fishing, so hopefully I'll be able to do a write up on its stability, and fish-ability soon.

You can do anything you want for storage. Thats one of the nice things about building your own boat. On my jem board I put a 6'" access panel. The area is between 2 of the hull frames. On my kayak I used plastic glad food containers. Cut the bottoms out and siliconed them in. Painted the twist on lids black and now I have water tight, microwavable, freezable, and dishwasher safe hatch covers
