In the back of an old closet, I found plans for a CLC Mill Creek 15 that my dad purchased in '99. It's a 15' S&G kayak (27" beam) and it will be my first build, and I just wanna run this materials list by y'all before I go and order everything.
7/32 in (5.5 mm) lauan for the hull
4mm lauan for the deck
1 Gal Resin + 1/2 Gal Hardener US Composite 635 2:1 Slow for layup
1/2 Gal Resin + 16 oz Hardener US Composite 635 4:1 Fast for glue and fillet
5 yds of 30" 4oz E-glass for the deck (outside only)
20 yds of 38" 6oz E-glass for the hull (inside and out)
So, how does it look? Too little Epoxy? Too much glass? Let me know what you think, and THANK YOU for the wealth of information you've all contributed!

Sounds like your good on the Epoxy, hardener. and cloth. What wood do you plan to use? marine ply would be my preference.

Was planning on using Lauan, but seeing as my dove hunting season just got cancelled, I might just sell my shotgun to fund the Okume 6mm and 4mm.

Calf Deep
Just a couple suggestions,
Use the same ply for the deck 7/32 and cover it inside and out with 6 ounce glass . The first thing that is going to happen is someone sitting on the deck
then you will have glass showing if you just glass oneside plus luan does a good job as long as it has full glass coverage.Second you may need to haul it upside down on a rack at times
I have used 4 mm a couple times and hate it ,to limber, hard to line up very little loss in weight and not near the stiffness.

Thanks BGG.
After rethining this build, I'm going a different direction.
Now I figure I'm gonna do full on 4mm Okume and change the build to a Jem Bluefin 15. Not the simplest boat it seems, but I'm gonna give it a shot. Using the long cure epoxy will force me to be patient and do it right, I think

Bowgarguide,
I keep seeing luan recommended but I can only find oak or birch underlayment in 5.5mm. I live in DFW, is there some place you know of to get this stuff?
