Luis,

Sweet! Great job on the hull... Love that river! Nothing like that here in south Louisiana...

My son's J16 was previously very badly abused by a crappy fisherman, who drilled about a hundred holes in her deck and gunnels. He didn't bother to fill a single hole, even when he moved the console, and stored her in the weather... She had a few minor cracks and bad scrapes in her bottom, and sections of her gunnels were broken and overall in rough shape. Some areas of the core in the rear section of the deck are still damp (rotten foam), but as she's a "banger" and cost him very, very little, we've decided not to re-deck her - We'll see how that goes...

My son is an under-grad at LSU, and we're slowly getting her rebuilt.

After letting her dry for a year or so in the garage, she's been stripped bare. All the holes have been drilled out a bit and then Marine-Texed and finished by sanding; and she's well sanded-down overall. We'll re-drill any holes necessary to re-fit her.

Additionally, we've cleaned up and patched her console

Next step is some fiberglass & Marine Tex work on the gunnels, and she'll be ready for paint, both top and bottom.

Then, she'll need a new forward deck, new stainless screws and brite work....

We'll take your advice on the paint.

Thanks!

Kyle

Well, that was impressive. What other jobs had you done to prepare yourself for this, or did you just jumpin and conquer the problems as you went? Whichever the way, you did a beautiful job.
