Devils River Dragging

Post by jackh »

How much dragging should I expect from Bakers to Del Norte this May? I assumed all these rains would have the river a little higher than my trip 2 years ago (Del Norte to Big Satan). But I'm starting to think it all just ran into the lake and the river is just like it was last time. Thanks.

Amistad is over twenty feet low still so there was plenty of room for a riverfull of water.

Have you paddled bakers to Del Norte section before?

The Devils is largely spring fed, so we need the aquifers to recharge.

I've heard from many sources that the Bakers put in is very, very low. You can expect a good deal of dragging, including possible damage to a boat. Although my group wants to run the Baker's put in, we've opted for Del Norte for the last two years.

Check with the licensed concessionaires for up to date knowledge.
