It's amazing the value that the Excursion is holding.

Ya and at 5k I got a heck of a deal on it. There only one thing damage wise to this car. There is a good size dent in the drivers door. Its the same door on a f350 so im just going to replace the door. Now theres one other thing with this suv it had a 44 gallon tank. Put a $100 in and was just at 3/4 of a tank but I can drive to any lake I want to fish and come back home on one tank of gas ;)

calvinbware wrote:Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. I'm getting ready to buy a Big Tuna 14 footer. Will a 4 x 8 utility trailer fit this kayak? It comes with a 48" tongue. I have an option to upgrade to a 60" tongue. Would that be too long? I'm planning to tow it with a Honda accord. I dont want it to jut out behind the trailer too far yet i don't want to be too dangerous with the longer tongue. I've never towed anything before. The trailer is roughly 275-300 lbs. Any suggestions are appreciate. Thanks.
The less that you have hanging out the back, the better. And most likely, you won't be able to have the nose of the kayak even with the nose of the trailer, it will have to set back a bit, depending on the height and whatnot for cornering. I would get the longer one, you can always shorten it, but it'll be hard to stretch it.

Honda Element, sometimes on a roof rack if I'm pulling my camper and sometimes on the homemade trailer. Been as far as Rockport, SW LA. and Lake Ouchita, Ark.

Depends on whether im "working" when I hit the launch or not, lol.
Either a 2012 Ram HD or 2012 Tundra TX edition. I use a bed extender on both unless I'm hauling to the beach, then I have a 10 utility trailer with a rack on it.

Have you bought a new battery or are you waiting to get stranded again???

I am assuming the latter is more likely the case...

GMC extended cab w/ camper shell.

Took a rack off of a 98 Jeep Cherokee and modded it to fit the shell....added some pads and it hauls just fine.

Hauled my Ultimate 12 to Florida and back with no issues.

New yak is a Slayer...and both will not fit up top.

I may end up making a rack system for my utility trailer to haul both when needed.

Almost 45 min to my favorite salty spot.

Traded in Big Red, my 06 Tacoma PreRunner from earlier post last week for a 2014 TRD 4x4 Taco. Short bed still can accommodate my 14' yak with my Northern Tool extender.

2010 Ram 2500 4WD Cummins. I recently bought a TracOne rack with Malone saddles as well as a locking Yakima ski rack to try to slow the thieves down that want to steal my rods. My drive down to the salt is about 1.5-2.5 hours. The rack system has worked great.

2000 Jeep Wrangler

Kongo Cage with Yakima bars, mako saddles and hullyrollers. Everything picked up from craiglist here and there.

Drive about 80 miles to the Salt.

Jeep actually runs a lot better with the kayak on top.

2012 Jeep Unlimited, I am better at freshwater than salt but love both. I do have a 2013 Hobie Outback now, so I need to get a new picture.

Hey good looking rig there!

I don't fish enough, when I do it is usually salt but is at least 1 1/2 hr drive. I need to fish fresh more often as that is what I know more about. I too use the stock rack with Yakima saddles.
