Decided to hit what is supposed to be one of Colorado’s premier tail water fisheries: 11 Mile Canyon, which is southwest of Pikes Peak. The park is beautiful and the scenery is outstanding. Think Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake on steroids! Plus it is all public land, unlike the Guad.
I was hampered by the fact I forgot my wading boots so I had to find areas where I could get out on rocks in the water to fish. I caught two smallish rainbows on my new 3# St Croix and it was a blast. I was in the C&R only area, so my main focus was to get the fish back with minimal impact to them, and so I don’t have pics. You know how I am about photo-ops for fish that are supposed to be released.
I did spot some really nice size trout but wasn't able to generate a strike from them. Still learning this trout fishery routine!
I camped in the canyon Saturday night and it got down to 33 deg!

Beautiful scenery! Rapids look's a little hairy for a long boat! Did you do this on your own or with a guide/shuttle service?
Where was the put in?

When you are driving in on Canyon Road keep a look out on the trees across the river.
Have seen some beautiful bald eagles in those trees.

Did it own my own. It was walk-in fishing, doubt it could be floated.oldsalt wrote:Beautiful scenery! Rapids look's a little hairy for a long boat! Did you do this on your own or with a guide/shuttle service?
