Rainy Day at Raven
Hit Lake Raven for the first time yesterday. It lived up to its billing of big fish and alligators. Launched about 715 with a couple other guys who were pulling away as i was getting there. Found a nice spot with some trees down near deep water and some grass and it was on. For about an 1.5 hours. Caught one pound in a halfer right away on a white spinner bait, then start working watermelon wacky worms around the trees and picked off another two or three. Found one spot that looked fishy and caught a 4-5lber, then missed a bigger one because it bit my wacky worm but not the part with the hook. The it shut down completely around 9-930. I paddled all over the place working worms, square billed cranks, rattle traps and spinners, and didnt get another bite till lunch time. Ran into a bunch of other yakkers who hadnt caught anythingn all mornign so I guess I had some beginners luck. Ended the day drowning some night crawlers and picking off some bull bream for dinner. Over all a great trip, might have to drive that extra 30 minutes past Gibbons where I usually fish more often if I can figure out the catfish out there.
