This year is taking shape to be a banger for big trout. I've been targeting trout in a few areas and they have all been producing if you know what to look for. (Corpus Christi, Bird Island, Baffin Bay)
Finding the early morning bite deeper in and around structure. By the afternoon I was following them shallow up against banks for mullet. Lots of mullet in the water and those fat birds occupying the spool islands have been a dead giveaway.
Topwater bite has been good but I've been finding a little more success with just a simple 3" paddle tail on a 1/8 jig head.
Recent Soft Plastic Colors in moderately clear water 1-2 ft visibility.
- White
- Pink
- Clear with silver glitter
28" and some change has been my largest so far this year. If I'm lucky enough a 30 will come sniffing. Here's a video clip of a small gator.
