After I few tail slaps on the top water the day before, I decided to dig out my old tops and try again this morning. A few dinks and lost a couple of good ones before 7am. Topwater action died about 730 so I switched to my usual trout killer and landed 2 17's, an 18, and a 19 inch trout. I lost 6 big ones and almost got spooled too. Never got to see what it was. I felt the thump, set the hook and felt like I was stuck. Then it was off like a freight train then stop. headshake, freight train again then spit the hook. Later in the day I stopped at Roy's to show them my lure setup and they said everything looked right. I bought new hooks, plastics and tried again around 4pm. Same area had a few small trout and a rat red.
Morning temp was cool and a slight breeze. Water was clear with a little ripple. Off the water by 10am.
Afternoon temp was a little warm for the waders then cooled off when the sun went down. The breeze died and so did the bite. Off the water again by 7pm.
I learned something today. I was watching seagulls chase ducks and saw that they would wait for the duck to come out from under water and steal whatever the duck got to eat. I guess ducks can't eat under water. not sure.
Also, I was watching a seagull perched on a channel marker acting odd. It looked like it was watching something in the water. This went on for a while so I paddled over and made a cast. WOW! a 19 inch trout. Then caught all my other keepers in the exact same spot. I now look for seagulls on channel markers acting weird. lol
Pictures are from this morning.
Watched the grass to see which way the tide was moving, A heron was hanging out by the launch, Water like glass in some area, and my little fish catching machine in the grass.
Gonna hit it again in the morning......

Very nice. Interesting about the bird behavior, especially the gull on the piling. Nice photos.
Wonder what the mystery fish was?
