Back at Hog Island today, trying to catch the trout that I missed Sunday, in my skiff, not my kayak. I have been fishing the Coastal Bend & lower Texas coast for five years, and before today, I had never seen a Spotted Eagle Ray. I was drifting in my skiff, and a four-foot Eagle Ray swam past! One of Nature's most beautiful, graceful and elegant creatures. Saw them all the time in the Caribbean. We chased them in the Bahamas in our dinghies. They'd let you get within about 50 feet, then turn on the afterburner!
Never thought I'd see one in Redfish or Aransas Bay! Neat! ...TexasJim...

Re: Not a Fishing Report, but a Sighting Report
that is a cool report, Jim.
Two years ago fishing Green Island about 2 miles from the mouth of the arroyo, we had a half-dozen of them swim by the boat.
I believe it was on the same drift as this photo
I fumbled with the camera and tried to get a shot, but this was what I got

That's cool. I've seen them at the Packery jetties and off shore when party boat fishing, but never in the bays.

Sometimes see them in the flats. The wingtips will fool you into thinking its a tailing Redfish.
