Little fun trip at Surfside, Tx
Did a little trip down to Surfside Saturday. Got there around 12:30 pm. It was pretty darn hot. My fish finder registered the bay water at 90 to 91 degrees! Headed out to my favorite reefs I like to fish. Fished dead shrimp under a popping cork. Started catching a few hardheads right away. Then a 15" black drum, a few small croaker and a small red or 2. Then later at another reef located in deeper surounding water hooked up with a 21" red. He put up a good fight and went on the stringer. I ate my last fish filet last week so it was time to keep a fish or 2! My buddy pretty much had the same results except he caught a 22" & a 24" red for his freezer. Camped out on the beach side and had some grilled beef & onion tacos around the fire with some cold beverages. Did the same route again Sunday morning with pretty much the same results. No keeper size Sunday though. I had a black drum that had to have been at least 30lbs tailing and came right up to the kayak almost. Kept dropping the shrimp in front of it but he ignored it. That was probably best! lol
