Sure glad I saved some from last summer!
For lunch today?
Golden brown pan fried Cobia steaks. I downed four of 'em. The kids ate their fill of Spanish Mackerel fishsticks and Shannon ate Cobia with me. Now I need a nap...
...and to dream about catching another good sized Cobia!

It's about as good as fish gets in this part of the world. I just wish they were easier to find.

So when is the next trip starting? Haven't been to the coast since last season and we are all itching..

If the wind will lay down for a while, I'll post up and hit the water... but the wind is still blowing strong.

Serg, you are welcome to come along any time I post a trip, just be sure to look over the posts in this section about gear and safety. Being safe out there is more critical than in bays, but there's nothing too difficult about being reasonably prepared. I look forward to paddling with you.BigSerg10 wrote:Would u guys be interested in taking a newbie to btb out

Hey Prof,
Where do you get the pink skirt for your kingfish leaders? I am going to make some up, what size hooks and leader do you use?
Thanks

Squid from Roy's in the left back corner of the store. The larger ones are my favorite - c&h Sea Witch in 1.5oz. They are hard to find, either Bass Pro or Amazon, but when run just ahead of your kingfish bait they give it a larger profile and attract attention.
Here's how I do the hooks and leaders:

I don't have a VHF either, but as long as I stay within 7 miles of the island I maintain cell coverage in the Corpus area. I wear it around my neck in a waterproof bag and can use it while on the water. The only problem is that all my buddies constantly call or text while I'm trying to fish!
