Race Ready

Post by Iamdamoder »

It has been nearly 2 years since I did any work on the ESK 442. We are planning to do the Kanoe Klasica next month so it was time to get her spiffed up a bit.
Started with a little deck rigging.

I went small with just 6 holes. Drill fill drill.

Varnish needed some work so she got a few more coats. I borrowed a trick from Neon14 and did the final coat in the kitchen. 8)

Still not happy I rubbed her out with 1000 grit and burned up a HF buffer before I could move on.

Flipped her over and did some minor repairs then black graphite.

That should keep her going for another year or so.

that's the thing with our boats, a little TLC and they come back as good/or better. nice work.

Good to have an understanding wife with the kitchen thing :)

The kitchen is the only way to go for the final coat. Good lighting, temperature controlled, and fast access to a Lonestar :D

This is one of my favorite boats I have ever paddled. I cannot believe how fast that thing is. And its a nice looker!

Right on , it is all perspective. Not unlike those cop shows where one guy says odor and the Alaska guys say aroma.

Hope you are getting around better than last we spoke. Have you moved out East?

Neon14 thanx for the cheers. What I really need is a much faster boat. I can't get Kevin's Pelican out of the rear veiw on the training missions. :?

Maybe what you need is a much faster MODER to power the boat??

   I'm still totally up in the air about what I'm going to do for the Klasica, have too many other things going on to give it a lot of thought. But I happened to check in here, saw this, and wanted to comment. Been wondering if the Esk was still getting used, guess this answers that question. Good to see! I'm finishing up my Cormy chop job, but it ain't going in the kitchen for varnish. I have no trouble living with brush marks, embedded gnats, etc., that sh*t don't keep me up at night at all. 8)

So when are you gonna learn to "Esk roll"?? :horse:
