I've changed the plans on the shuttle service and got a better price from a $20 /ea (non-negotiable, lol) to $5 / person....but (like the others) their times for reservations will need to be strict and we MUST have our vehicle's at Fisherman's Park and ready to shuttle back to the 969 launch at 9:30 AM on Saturday morning!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to adjust the time of our off-loading accordingly so we can get our vehicles there..... if we miss it, there are no other times until early afternoon and these services may be booked by then. From what I was told by the first one, there are other groups doing different river sections and being the "off-season" with less employee's they weren't ...uh...prepared (?).

I know there will be two other little groups of 5-6 planning to camp on the island on Saturday night. Plenty of room on the island.

We'll be using Rising Phoenix Adventures for the shuttle (512-677-2305). I told Jamie we were with TKF and she gave us a group rate of $5.00 per person ('course we usually add a little tip, lol). They will already be at Fisherman's Park off-loading another group going out from there at 9:00 -- and will load us up to return us to the 969 bridge at 9:30 AM so they can be back at Fisherman's by 10:00 for another group.
I'm going to complicate things, but only a little...

My plan is to meet you guys at the launch. Since I know the shuttle doesn't have a carseat, would someone be willing to drive my truck to the takeout and let me babysit the boats/gear? I would just leave my truck at the launch but just in case I need to leave early (momma is officially 8 months pregnant as of today  ) I want to make sure the carseat is at the end of the trip!

No biggie. We'll make it happen!!!

Can you PM me your #?? or, I can be reached at 936-444-6687 if anyone needs last minute contact

ROFLMAO!! I needed to hear that! Milret used to say that before every trip --- and he's going to be sorely missed since he's moved. How great that you posted up to keep the tradition going!!

I'm loaded (twice, lol -- I was going to bring my Srchr but switched out for the Commander instead) .............. and ready to pull out mid-morning. Thinking I'll take a scenic route and check out a couple things on the way. Should be at BB mid/late afternoon.

Any other fly fishers on the trip?

Just a suggestion, but I would wait until you weren't loaded to get on the road

On another note, momma had a doctors appointment yesterday. Looks like our little girl could come at any time over the next two weeks. I think Ben and I are going to have to bow out of this trip. I would hate to be 5-6 hours away from my truck if my wife goes into labor...

I will bow out on this one. I likely will be going back to Nacogdoches for at least a day working on sorting out Dad's stuff. I expect more trips this fall.

I hope everyone has a good time and expect great pictures next week!!! :D

Had another great time. This was much better than last year's salad bowl. We made another convert in my son Raley. He has another new bad habit. Paul we missed you.

Every time I'm headed on the drive home I think "that was the best trip ever"! Doesn't matter whether it was in the "trip from hell" category...or the smoothest one ever, lol. Either way I'm ready to start anticipating the next one. We just have the greatest groups ----and you're right; things just didn't quite feel the same without the "old Dawgs" -- Paul....John.....and Dave, Robert, etc., etc. Though one of the highlights is always the new blood that comes to join in and share their experiences .....and just have a good relaxing time in getting away for a couple of days. Eric, Aaron, Raley, Casey..... it was such a pleasure meeting you all and adding a spark to the group. Look forward to seeing you on more trips!!

I am sorry I was not there and am glad we had a lot of new blood. It is newcomers that keep the group alive. I look forward to the next trip and seeing old friends and making new ones.
