I recommend that you sign up on Fly Fishing Forum and ask there. They are mostly Yankee-type guys, but a good number of them do fish the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. Post your question in their Bonefish, Tarpon, and Other Obsessions forum.

Who ever you fish with, get ready for sticker shock. When I was there a few years back, I fished a day with Capt. Authur Dean of Silver Deep. We had a good run across a choppy bay to East Caicos and caught the end of a falling tide. We say lots of bonefish and, my first bonefish was a chunky 8 pounder. We caught 3 before we had to blast our way out...or, wait 12 hours for the next tide to come in. We hit some other creeks but, with no fish.

It was a fun day but, the ride home was a soaker. The wind blow more in the T&C than Texas or, Belize.

I hear that there have been several other outfits that have opened up shops since. Good luck on your trip.

Heya Blindcasting,

I am known as one of the premier fly fishermen in the South. I will be glad to guide you during your sojourn to the T&C's. Fly fishing for large Bonefish is my speciality, but I'm also very familiar with tarpon, snook, and permit.

I will not charge you one red cent for my guiding services. The only thing you will be responsible for is the hiring of a good boat, my room and board at the Tuscany hotel, and my plane fare (I only fly first or business class).

You're not kidding Chris. A full day with Dean is looking like about 1,500 between the guide few, tip, tax and rod rental.

I don't know what these guys run for day trips but I've heard good things about them. http://www.beyondtheblue.com/welcome.html

They run you to the flats in an airboat and you wade fish.

Ended up goon out with Arthur Dean. Cool guy and great guide. It was an hour to the fishing grounds but we never saw wan other boat the entire day. Water was unbelievable. I would guess I had over 40 legitimate shots at bonefish. Ended up landing 7, largest was 7 lbs, lost/broke off 4 others, one that Dean said was pushing 12 lbs. Also had a barracuda and jack steal the fly from other bonefish and fought a 20lb tarpons for a couple jumps. Trip definitely lived up to expectations.
