Causeway and Tiki Tuesday night
Made a trip to the bridge about 8 pm last night. No one at public ramp near Fat Boys except one other truck. Winds were about 5-8 mph out of the south and the tide was moving well. Water temp was 92 degrees. High tidal coefficient makes the water move faster over a shorter period of time making the bait move around. The bite started at the bridge right about 9 pm after the last bit of light left the sky. Threw tandem rigged jigs and DOA shrimp on a popping cork. No takers on the tandem but they loved the popping cork. Caught about 12 with three keepers at the bridge. I was the only one out there I could see in a yak. A boat with three people in it were cruising back and forth by the pilings and watching me and saw me catch one and they anchored up at the other end of the pilings I was fishing at. No one around anywhere and this guy potlicks me. Go figure. I yelled a couple of times calling them potlickers. I think they heard me becasue they left after 15 minutes of not catching anything and me catching two more. Anyway about 1 am went to Tiki south side and hit any light I saw and the trout were thick in the lights with the bait being blown from the south into the south side of the island. Tandem rigs worked best and was doubling up three times on both jigs! Caught about 15 more at Tiki but only 3 more keepers for a total of 6 for the night/morning. The wind was fairly strong when the tide was moving so I planned my moves from the bridge to the island with the tide change. Helped with peddling. here's a couple of pics...

i would love to see something that doesnt need to be hooked up to a 12v battery in a waterproof box. something waterproof that ran off of regular or rechargeable batteries (9V, etc)seaaggie_99 wrote:X2 - Kickingback do you have a post of your light mods? Nice post. I'm thinking of hitting that area Thursday night. I hope I have some luck. This will be my first time hitting that area. I'm new to the sport. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Love the Yak setup. Very well lit.

Potlicker's luck -- only one boat around and it isn't a boat really.kickingback wrote:No one around anywhere and this guy potlicks me. Go figure. I yelled a couple of times calling them potlickers. That's a pretty cool pic of the specs over the bow. What kind of lights are those and were they very hard to install? Don't want to take away from your fine fishing report but am curious.

That is an awesome kayak set-up you have there!kickingback wrote:Thanks! I just finished my upgrades and was going to post pictures and details soon. I just need to take some photos and write the post up. I'll try to post it today when i have time.
Do you get a lot of glass minnows coming up to your green hull lights? They are one of the best natural baits (along with live shrimp) for fishing the lights.
I am a lure guy almost exclusively these days, but in the lights, live bait (especially free live bait that swims up to your boat) is almost unbeatable if there is any bite at all.

I get lots of bait fish around the green lights especially when i go where it is real dark and turn them on. The area comes to life!
