fly board fodder

Post by let's go »

I guess this is the sort of thing that would go on the new fly board. I've been working on setting up a new fly tying area in my home office. Just got everything in place last night. Now I'm gonna play with my new digital camera. Now let's see if I can pull this off.

BB - They won't put Drambuie in a keg for me. This desk is quite an upgrade from the TV tray I had been using.

Fry - The 'puter is around the corner in the "wife's" area. That's why I've been on here so much the last couple days. The 'puter is now nice and handy.

I doubted that you didn't use one... Due to # of posts, and I assume you fly folks surf the net for supplies.

Good looking tying desk/area. I especially like the thread/spool holder that you have attached to the wall.

$7.95 at Wallmart in the sewing section. Beats the hell out of $30 for the Oasis thread holder.

Hey, that does look good. Now when will you be able to find time to fish after you tie all the flies that need to be tied. :)

Popasan - The chenille rack and the lazy susan for flashabou were both Christmas gifts from my better half. They are Oasis brand and available at FTU. However, it wouldn't take much to build your own.

Cojo - The yellow thing is a drier built on a flashlight frame with a 7 rpm motor.

Capt - I guess I need to get that photoshop that you always use. My Olympus came with some software called Camedia Master. I played around with it some this morning, but didn't like the results.

Now I gotta go tie some flies for Mercy to catch her first red on tomorrow. We're headed out in the morning to look for a willing redfish..........wish us luck.

Wow, some of you guys and gals really are serious about fly fishing. Capt. Jack, what photoshop system do you use? I'm thinking about buying a digital camera, but haven't made up my mind how deeply I want to get into digital photography. I want something good for outdoors and wildlife photography so I can send pictures to my relatives and make them feel bad because they aren't out on the water.

You so smart, Popasan. Of course, I had way too many spools for that. thus the wall rack. Let this be a warning to all of you guys thinking about getting into this stuff. It's an addiction. I started off about 15 months ago thinking, "maybe I'll just tie up some poppers or something". Whoops

great setup

Post by fredtoo »

yours is a really great setup Scott...and I see the 3 things I would use the most if it were mine:

1. the TV
2. the boom box
3. and especially the trash can! (for all my failed flies)

congratulations

Nice set up for sure. My chenille always comes on the little square cardboard holders. Where did you get the stuff packaged that way? I like that rack alot.

I hate those cardboard holders. The rack came with those spools. They're the same ones that you get some kinds of leader on.

That is a very nice setup indeed. Gives me an idea for an overly large bookcase that I have. May be time to cut it down and do a little customizing. After you price some of the fly tying work stations you can find on the internet  you can get real creative with what you already have around the house.

Fishin' - That was an old desk that used to house the computer. The wife was ready to get rid of it........No way! Besides, this was a hell of a lot more fun than carting than big SOB downstairs.
