Help me decide on a fish finder

I have been looking at the Hummingbird Piranha Maxx 160 or 170 and Fishing Buddy 110 or 120. Would I be better off having something permanently installed into my kayak, or one that is portable?

Do you have a need for a Fish Finder in something else besides your kayak? Are you planning on selling your kayak and getting another one? You can rig a permanent FF to be portable.

I plan to eventually sell my kayak and get another one. I have a pelican castaway 100, and it is my first yak. I was lucky that my wife let me spend that much on one. Hopefully I can upgrade in like a year or so.

I would like one to see structure and depth where I fish with my kayak.

I have an Eagle Cuda 350S and like it very much.
It's a GPS and Fish Finder...

God Bless,

I have a Humminbird PM 160. It works great. I just hose it off when I come on and no problems. I'm using a Scotty 444 deck mount and a Scotty 274 fishfinder post that I bought at ACK. Easy on, easy off.

Word of caution............I purchased a kayak that had a Fishingbuddy in the deal and I got rid of it quickly. It shakes, rattles and rolls in it's holder at any speed over 2 mph.

I have had other portables that did fine but the Fishingbuddy setup just didn't work, for me.

ACK has a Hobie Fish Finder package you might want to look into.

Man! This is exactly why I've loved TKF for so many years. This is exactly what I've been looking for. The problem is so few places carry everything you need in one package. So while you can go on e-bay and find a good deal on a fish finder, you have to piece the entire package together and it ends up costing more than you need to spend. This package has everything you need. I just bought this for my Hobie PA. 8)

X2, there is so much info in here that helps out. Plus a good dose of humor to go with it.
