Anchor Trolley side placement question.

Post by conagher »

Every thing is designed for right handed people but sometimes us lefties have a question in a r/h world.
Got my anchor trolley today for ACK and I was wondering which side would work better for a leftie. My paddle hangs on the starboard side when not in use but can be easily moved. So I assume that putting the trolley on the port side would be best. Thought on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Personal preference is opposite side of where you naturally land a fish. For me, being RH that is starboard. I keep that side clear. Does not always work out, but majority of the time it happens that way.

My first kayak had the paddle holder on the same side as the anchor trolley. I'm right handed, and both were on the right side. Between the paddle, the paddle leash and anchor line, I always had a big mess.

When I got my current kayak, I asked ACK to install the trolley on my left side, while I keep my paddle on the right.

It has been a huge improvement. YMMV.

Since I'm right handed, I'm more comfortable pulling in the anchor with my right hand.

Thanks guys for taking the time to reply to my post.

I think installing my anchor trolley on the port side would work the best.

I'm right handed and have mine installed on the starboard side. I usually cast straight out or to my port side so more convenient having on the starboard side

both sides, wind/current can come from any side and you can face any direction and be casting comfortably.

Since my rudder controls are on the right, I like the anchor trolley on the left. I steal my stake out stuck to that side as well. I'm right handed and never felt awkward using it on the port side.
