Pecos River
Just wanted to see if anyone has an update on how the Pecos river at Highbridge is doing? Any pictures would also be appreciated.
Re: Pecos River
If no one posts before the weekend, I will get some pics posted when I head home from work this week.

I am wantting to go back down there so bad. I live in angelo, and last year we drove down there, an could not get into to the river due to low water.
Re: Pecos River
just below the Brantley Lake dam the Pecos is about 6 inches deep and very slowly flowing.
Re: Pecos River
True enough, but they just finished (possibly paused) a 30,000+ acre foot water release headed straight to Texas. Been DUMPING water out of Brantley for a couple months. They've got the lake drained down pretty good now. Though admittedly the level is not too bad considering how it's been in the recent past. At least we're getting some rain this year...texnomad wrote:just below the Brantley Lake dam the Pecos is about 6 inches deep and very slowly flowing.

Spur 406 to Governor's Landing looks to be a fun day trip. I'm also wanting to start doing Rough Canyon to 277N/S or Diablo East.... If anyone is ever in the area and needs a paddling partner, just drop me a line...

Re: Pecos River
Pecos still looks doable heading towards highbridge. I absolutely love that stretch.

I think it i s very possible to do in a motor boat. My plan is to take the motor boat up to the beginning of the rock and camp there. I will also take my kayak to go up in the rocks.
Re: Pecos River
I have seen that done many times over the years. Better than paddling against those hurricane force winds that happen down in the canyon.

Anyone have any new pictures or report of the river?
Re: Pecos River
I can't even believe the pics I posted are from May of 2015. The past year was an absolute blur... Really can't wait to get out and spend more time on the water this coming year.

My son and I may be heading down there next weekend. We aren't bringing the yaks though, he's doing some scout stuff at Seminole Canyon. (if the weather works out) But we always make it a point to visit the Pecos while down there.
