Predicted Tides and Actual Tides Info

Post by Sinbad »

I'm getting ready for a 3 day fishing trip near Port Aransas and can't seem to find the NOAA actual tidal graph.

From reading the boards, I understand the tides have been running above predictions and wanted to see what it looked like. Anyone know where you can find the graph that used to show predicted and actual tides combined?

Sinbad,

The Port Aransas Tide Gauge (the one from your link) is supported by Texas through the the Texas Coastal Oceanic Observation Network (TCOON). The state of Texas has not funded TCOON for a couple years ago. Thus you're not able to to see the measured tides for Port Aransas. Depending on where you're planning on fishing use either Rockport or Packery Channel gauges. For instances, if you're fishing LHL subtract about an hour from the Rockport gauge to know when high/low tides are happening.

You are correct, tides have been running about 6" higher all year long than predicted. Perfect time to get out a do some exploring in some back lakes & marshes which would normally not be under water.

Awesome. Thanks!

I'm hoping to do some more exploring in the shallows of LHL and scout some new territory on Port A bayside, since that is where I will be staying.
