I'm going to fish either Thursday or Friday. Haven't decided which day yet.

Awesome, I might hit the water a little earlier, but I’ll see you all out there!

Surprisingly tough day. Very clear water, no birds, no bait, very few fish. I caught the only 2 reds and only because a school blew up right next to me. Sharks were cooperating better...barely. I leadered 2, had one bite off and one come unhooked after 2 jumps and a 10 minute fight. I've never done well when the water is extremely clear.

That school of reds blowing up around me was pretty cool. They were swimming all around and the 2 fish I managed to catch had others following them to the boat. I just couldn't get unhooked and rebaited fast enough before they moved on. For a while I also had a school of 3ft sharks circling the kayak because of my chum bag. I passed on presenting a bait. Ones that size don't put up much of a fight and are usually too hard to unhook, so I end up losing a hook.

I think a 3 foot shark is about all I could handle on a yak. Congrats on getting out there.

In the end of the day, the fishing itself wasn’t good but the water was beautiful and the company was excellent, so I left a happy man

In the 3 years I've been a Covid refugee stuck in Sea Isle (Yeah, rough. I know), the surf yesterday was the prettiest I've ever seen in Galveston. Dead flat calm, low tide, and easily see the 2nd and 3rd bar from the shore it was so clear. The first bar was dry from the low tide. It reminded me of living in Corpus Christi back in the '80s.

But no sign of any fish or bird activity, and the guys who were fishing weren't catching any when I was watching.

My neighbor claimed to spot a school of bull reds a few hundred yards offshore, but they were just passing through. I missed them when I walked to the beach half an hour later.

Water this morning was still gorgeous, but not as nice as yesterday.

I took my powerboat out on Saturday afternoon, 10/9, and fished West Bay reefs and Greens lake. Same results. One small croaker, one undersized speck, one small sand trout, and a keeper red off a reef. No action in Greens despite working many outgoing drains. It was a really odd day. On the water about 12:30 pm and off about 6:30 pm.
