Re: Need input...
Unfortatly, I have no experience with a peddle kayak. If I were to get one, I would look hard at the Old Town Kayaks. I have heard great things to include the price of these kayaks.

With all this wind, I decided to hit Conroe. I launched at Stow a Away but could not venture out too much due to the SW wind. I grinded out two chucky (football) bass on a black & blue senko. My foreman is still soar from the fight. :) The bite was not back to back and caught both working the sh...

Colorado River Near Columbus
Has anyone fished this stretch of the river lately? I've been wanting to try this area but have only fished the river near Bastrop.

Last Spring was the last time I fished freshwater, and I really needed to feel those thumps from a black bass. Also, something about those Piney Woods that I love during the cooler months. I caught three nice one's on a black & blue senko, and the bite was not back to back. I had to work for the...

Looks like you all had a great time. Love the march pic's. Over the years, I have developed a love for the marsh. Thanks for sharing.

I caught two flounder; 20.5 and 17, fishing the marsh and guts of the south shore line. I have been fishing the marsh along Church Hill but the strong N wind kept me south. The high tide allowed me to in the marsh and keep the wind behind me. The bigger fish hit a green weightless swim bait and the ...

Decided to hit it again after getting skunked on Sun, 10 Sept. The reds were deep in sloughs but I could not get them to take my soft plastic; DSL and voodoo shrimp. I did bring home a 19.5" flounder that smoked my voodoo shrimp. Only fished 3 hours due to wanting to watch the Texans.

Re: Redfish in the grass
The wind on Sun was brutal, and the one tide did not provide much help. They predicted for SE winds but that did not happen. It's only going to get better.

So true. This high pressure (SW winds) has killed fishing for me; this summer and last.

Re: Boat Ramp Crew Change Spot non-report 4-Sep-2023
Start looking for alternate locations unless you are ok with wasting fuel and time. This year, the same thing happened to me twice and the thought of going back home was on my mind. I chose to launch at wind protected areas and on one of my trips it paid off. Regardless if I catch fish or not, I alw...

I always start with a top water or suspending bait first, and the soft plastics when the sun is up. I do this all year round.

Re: Broken Gear & a PB. Xmas Bay 30-Apr-2023
That fish made up for the broken gear. You are correct about the low tide, the lowest I have seen it there. The north wind from Sat and the NW wind was a big contributor. I have a paddle kayak and knew it was going to be tough so I decided to launch at the Brazos River; use the berm's for wind prote...

Re: Tandem kayak suggestion for bay fishing
I highly suggest to get her a used solo kayak. I own two kayaks and one is a tandem, and I bought it so that I can take my kids when they were little. Now that they are grown, they or guest use the tandem as a solo. In my opinion, two adults in a kayak would be frustrating to paddle and fish. Your s...

I put in at Stow A Way at day break and fished the east shoreline. I caught three solid fish, and it was a grind because I fished four hours. The guys in bass boats were throwing top water baits with a fast retrieve, and I did not see them land anything. My three fish were caught on blue & black...

Christmas Bay_2 Sep (Fri)
I decided to hit Christmas Bay before the weekend crowd. No fish, but lost three what I thought were reds; two missed blow ups on a top water, one on a bubba clucker mullet. The fish put up a good fight but came off because hook was covered in grass. It was going to be a catch release day anyway bec...
Re: E-bike
I've been seeing more E-bikes on the White Oak Trail here in Houston. I prefer off road riding, but this year I road the Tour of Houston and really enjoyed it. I need to consider a hybrid or put slicks on my mountain bike. The E-bike looks ok for an occasional ride, but I need to keep my heart and b...

Re: Stubblefield bridge launching?
I launched there on Wed, 27 April and you can get under the bridge but you'll have to lower your poles for clearance. Also, down stream about a half mile or so, the lake was blocked with a thick weed line. I was able to go over with the kayak but not good for boats.

Stubblefield - 27 Apr
I decided to hit Stubblefield due to high winds along the coast. First time there, and I really enjoyed the scenery. I caught three bass; two on a senko, and my largest on a swim bait...nothing like a big bass hitting your swim bait. The water was murky and I am certain it was from the rains earlier...

The days have been nice so I decided to take the kayak out. I landed one 19" speck on a corky but it came with some drama. I turtled while reaching for my net that drifted away from me; fighting a fish and reaching is a bad mistake. My first and I've been kayaking along time but I'm glad I got ...

I caught and released five bass, and my biggest were 3 lbs. I throw a lot of soft plastics, so I worked the shoreline and had success on both Senkos and Worms.
I love fishing on cover cast days.

Re: A yes or no Poll
Yes, I cast with right and set w/left. It makes sense not to switch and I tried reprograming my brain but got frustrated. I actually gave my left handed reel away to my nephew. Off subject. My son is left handed but batted right. When he played short stop, people would say that it was odd but he was...
