Re: Repair Crack in Hull

Just did more research. Really like the looks of the plastic welder.

Would a regular soldering iron do just fine? If not, any specific brands of plastic welder I should get? Some are like $30 on Amazon.

Repair Crack in Hull

Have a 1.5" crack on the bottom side of one of my kayaks.

Any idea how best to repair?

Seems like plastic welding would work well, but never done it before.

Motor Mount - Jackson Kraken

Anyone know of a place that sells a trolling motor mount for a Jackson Kraken?

Or, a simple spec sheet for building one myself?

Re: Standing and fishing

Be careful, my pops has a fused spine from slipped/crushed disk. Seeing the pain he was in, I wouldn't risk standing up in a kayak to be completely frank.

JKrate Live Well

Anyone here convert the Jackson JKrate to a live well before?

I was just going to follow this guide, but was curious if there are better methods or parts these days? https://hub.jacksonkayak.com/2014/01/tu ... bait-tank/

That guide is from 2014, otherwise wouldn't be askin'!

Sportsman Rd, Galveston

Spent my life fishing Matagorda, and recently moved to Houston, so not super familiar with Galveston. Learning after a few trips. For Sportsman Rd., is the only launch at the very end of the road, or is there one mid-way? I saw some older posts here saying there is a launch mid-way, but I don't know...

Re: Brazoria County Surf 6-4

Surf fishing has an elusive allure. When conditions are ideal, there’s really nothing that compares to how enjoyable and productive local fishing can be. If one likes being literally surrounded by hungry quality trout that will fight each over to get to your lure so that a 40’ cast in any direction...

Re: Wondering?

I grew up fishing gorda mostly from the surf. First kayak was a tandem pelican from academy. Moved away from the coast for school & work. Now I'm back on the coast and just got a kayak to get back into it. Heard of this forum from another general fishing forum. Glad you found TKF Duster. There'...

Re: Finally got offshore!

Very cool. I bet that jack did fight hard. I hope to go offshore this summer in my new (to me) kayak.

Will be sticking to the bays the first few trips, but July/August I'll be looking at a good day to make a trip to a rig.

Re: Electrical plug on fish finder is bad

That plug was shot. It was a little corroded on the prongs, but that wasn't the main issue. The exposed wires were corroded, and the plug has two little screws that you use to clamp the wire down. These screws were corroded and one of them stripped, so it couldn't screw down all the way.

Electrical plug on fish finder is bad

I just bought a used kayak that came with a Raymarine Dragon Fly fish finder & battery. I knew it worked, but I kept having trouble getting it to turn on. Battery is good. Finally, I got it to turn on, but only by really squeezing and holding this plug pictured below in place that goes to the ba...

Re: Transporting 15.7' kayak

I do like the ladder rack, but it might be hard loading & unloading the kayak by myself. It's 85 lbs bare. I'll know once I get the yak tomorrow and get a feel for the weight. I guess it's still not crystal clear on where the trailer lights need to be. I have seen people put them on the bed exte...

That is wonderful news. I always put red flags on, but didn't put two-and-two together that a red flag bypasses the 4' rule.

Re: Transporting 15.7' kayak

I had someone recommend a ladder rack, which would make sense. Anyone else run a yak on top of these? If so, where do you ratchet down? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pickup-Truck-Ladder-Rack-with-Removable-Support-Arms/29389585?SharedId=320969_b28c83b69&sourceid=imp_UPVyVoVeGxyIUhDUv9wCCy1YUkDxjZ2B...
