Re: Texas Beach Access Bill

I do not know how many of y'all have experienced launches no longer open or accessible, closed beaches, etc. Yes, this is real, and I encourage everyone to contact ALL your State, County and City officials. It's a growing trend to shut down access to OUR waters. . . . . . . Happy Fishin' Chicken :wi...

Re: Sportsman Road Launch blocked!? What’s the deal

Fellow Yakers, Yes, this is a serious issue as this could and most likely lead to other public access being closed. As saltykat mentioned, he leased a house in Galveston where among other things he will be spending time and MONEY while he is there. All of us spend money in Galveston in one way or an...

Re: Exploring new waters pays off April 9th

Yak Boi, I have a place like that I found in Trinity Bay years ago when I wanted to try a new place too. It pays to explore on Google Earth and then apply that knowledge to check that area out. And yes, since I got back into the plastic navy a couple months back I've been eager to try that spot agai...

So, Years later and almost 7, I have that slayer. I received my 2022 Slayer Max 12.5 (the newer version) early April, so another member has rejoined the plastic navy :) .

Well I'm Back - Part II

Update - I guess God was trying to teach me patience ( ) as April 2021 turned into Black Friday 2021 where my kayak finally arrived on March 18, 2022. The kayak I had thought was mine was the "early 2022" and I ended up with the "new and improved 2022" Native Watercraft S...

Re: Hey, I'm Back!

... REVISION: Looks like the Tarpon 160 Angler might be a better choice for me due to it's ease of paddling and speed, Any thoughts on how this compares with the Trident? I will be making a trip to Austin Kayaks to paddle both in a week or so. Thanks to all for your suggestions and advice, I apprec...

Hey, I'm Back!

Been out of the sport since late 2015 due to a life changing experience, nothing major and personal, but I'm ready to feed the addiction again! I've been lurking around a few days and it looks like it will be April before I get my new kayak, a Native Slayer Max due to everything backordered. Anyway,...

Yes, I too believe the pot lickers have driven many to not post. It takes years and many, many hours to learn a spot, what works and when. Not too many people want to give that effort up. . . . .

Re: Catch and Release Poll

Yes, the poll buttons work as I just voted and I sometimes keep my catch for these reasons:
1.) Fish swallowed hook
2.) Ol' neighbor across the street who can't fish anymore needed fish
3.) Nope, no fish in our freezer

DIY Fish Measure Board

Decided it was about time to make my own measuring board and I ordered the adhesive measuring tape from 321Fish.com as that is one of the best I have seen. Once the measuring tape came in, I made a trip to Walmart to get one of those small cutting boards and then a trip to Home Depot for the PVC boa...

Re: Camera recommendations?

Thanks for the input, guys. The bride just went to Best Buy -- they know her there -- and bought me a Nikon AW120. It looks like a good camera; the camera guy there told her it and one of the Canons were tied for #2 in their ratings, and the #1 (I don't recall what it was) is way too expensive. The...
