Looking to catch anything thats good eatin!

I have 3 7' rods for pier and kayak fishing. i just want something that i can cast way the hell out there and hook up some bigger fish when casting from beach.

Im definitely going with a 12' now.

Maybe I'll keep my eye out on craigslist for deals.

Im going back to school for an MBA so i plan on being really broke until im done so i gotta start budgeting.

I would love to go out and buy 2-3 nice ones but the prices are crazy on them.

Im gonna stick with something low end at Academy.

is there a significant difference when casting with a 10ft rod and a 12ft rod?

50 for just the rod? do they have rod and reel combos on surf rods?

Also it will have to be a 2pc and ill go as long as 12ft if it will make a difference in casting that bait!

Ive never owned or used a Surf rod or used a bait caster reel. I want a surf rod that can use a spinning reel if possible. I have heard that they cast MUCH further then a regular 7ft rod. Advice? Put it in the bed of a truck with a bed extender and fill it with some water.
If it leaks you know.

(DONT FILL IT UP TOO MUCH!!! water is HEAVY. i was cleaning in the same manner and when i tried to slide it off i barely managed the weight and couold have broke my rudder....

I agree that it sits a bit high...but I went wide verses deep like most kayak rudders. With the boat sitting on a floor...I wanted the blade to be even with the ground, and in the water the wide part of the blade would be submerged. Theory on that ...will be less chance of damaging the blade on roc...

Idea's? i was thinking of a way to put them in the front of the bed (on one of the cab corners) I want to build a wood frame or something to be able to put 5-7 2pc paddles in.
