Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/05)
I went back and the poles were removed and the trot-line gone. I also got skunked…I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/05)
This is what surprised me the most. Trot-lines are not common and someone who places one should know the ends and outs This person should be knowledgeable and not just someone who picked up a combo rod/reel and accidentally broke a law. It seems clear that it needs to be marked correctly with clear ...

Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/5)
I didn’t read the link but I know of someone who received a citation for this and Ive also seen a GW write a citation on Lone Star Law for this. A friend of mine who fished a lot on the Brazos river with limb and trot lines was fishing with us in AP last summer. We saw a GW at the boat ramp and he ...

Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/5)
Trot lines are illegal in brackish or salt water in Texas. Report it to a game warden. Definitely questionable on how it is constructed, but I do not think illegal in saltwater. Game Warden is aware, if anything is done about it is another situation. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annua...

Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/5)
There were no marking for TPWD that I saw and now that I think about it, someone could easily mistaken the white poles for channel markers. Next time I’ll take a picture. Hopefully I’ll be out there chasing the reds next week.

AP to Port A (03/02,03/05)
The redfish have been up in skinny water sorta waiting for bait to come by. Several big reds hit my topwater on pure blind casting… ( no real sign other than my hope). They were sitting in the grass beds in-between the sand, in groups of 2-3s. Spoons… gold spoons. They chased them like they haven’t ...

Re: Finally, a Catch in January!
Took the yak to the Sailboat Channel on 361 this morning. Lots of real estate showing with the super-low tides. Found some fish activity and tossed some frozen shrimp and boated two lower-slot Reds, and a bunch of shorts. The Red bite faded, and the Black Drum cranked up. Caught three 16-17" d...

A complete racket of a way to set regulations for the entire state of Texas…beyond belief.

Re: TPWD Sets Public Meetings
The new trout regulations have been voted on and adopted by the commission to become effective by late March. 3 fish per day bag limit 15”-20” slot limit 1 fish per day over 30” as part of the daily bag limit. As I understand it in March the commission will also plan to vote and adopt a tagging sys...

Re: I sure hope this turns out the way it seems
I usually just buy a new reel every 2-3 years. With time, technology, and necessity considered I find buying a new reel a good investment. Although I still have my Stradic, can’t get it to break.

Re: Trout on the coast
There is a December report where a member reported catching 100 in a day… I personally didn’t see much change fishing Aransas Pass the last 3 years. Same amount of trout I usually get.

Re: TPWD Sets Public Meetings
Someone said it online but I agree. There are a lot of people who fish but not a lot of people who catch fish. Changing the rules so one can add that .5 to his/her PB or so that one can actually catch something is disingenuous nonetheless.

Re: TPWD Sets Public Meetings
I was really hoping for that too. Or allowing 1 fish over 20” in the bag would be even better. There is still time! I wrote them about that specifically too. Based on decades of history once TPWD gets to this point (public comments) it’s a done deal. I’ll be shocked if any changes are made to the c...

Re: TPWD Sets Public Meetings
The changes are probably coming. 15-20 with a 3 fish limit. 1Trout over 25" being part of the daily bag. I do not agree with this proposal and have sent the needed replies. I will also be a the Rockport meeting on Jan. 9. My biggest issue is not allowing 20-25 to be retained at all. I think th...

Re: TPWD Sets Public Meetings
A tag may help in multiple ways. First, if they do think the population can withstand it..why not? Some people want to catch and eat that fish so I don’t have a problem if the population can handle it. Second, if an oversized trout dies during the catch one can use the tag. Third, it could bring mor...

Nice fish, they sure do look fat and full. The Reds I caught mid-November in Aransas were super fat too.

Re: Independent insurance agent recommendation
Absolutely. Real-World consequences for a perceived world demise… sounds like a religion to me. Nonetheless, our home on the coast went from 1/10 flood risk to 8/10 within the last 2 years. I’m not getting political, but if the Covid response means anything to you, you know what is coming with clima...

Re: New Louisiana Speck Regs
I have noticed a decrease in activity especially during the down times. I know personally two people who had to sell their powerboats due to personal reasons. They were avid fisherman but circumstances demanded it. The license sales have plateaued since post Covid 21/22. With financial times taking ...

Re: New Louisiana Speck Regs
I hope they keep it 15-25 at 5 with one being over 25. The only change I would consider is limiting any charter to 15 a day, 30 possession for the whole group. This would limit guided boats and floating houses and such. We just went from 10 to 5 recently and didn’t even have time to see that kick in...
